My dad (who is fine) was present at the French terrorist attacks.
He went to Paris for Airbnb Open, since he works at the company. He is not French himself but he speaks the language. Today he was at dinner with some of his coworkers. Everyone in the restaurant heard gunshots outside. They hid for hours in the restaurant, sharing a few phone chargers and calling family. This was when I found out about the attacks and called my dad. The people in the restaurant knew what had been going on from the news on their phones. (there were bombings and shootings in many places in France today such as a concert, stadium and restaurant.) They thought that the attacked restaurant was next door because of the shooting they heard but they found out later that it was a policeman who shot at the air while not letting someone pass through a barrier. The shot restaurant was a couple blocks away.
Anyways, my dad is lucky to be alive. He had to walk 45 minutes to the place he was staying at 3:00 AM. Airbnb Open is cancelled so I guess he'll sleep all day. He's exhausted but safe. I wonder what he saw on his way back.
It's an interesting story to tell, I just had to share it with someone. Thanks for reading.
